Classification of photovoltaic junction boxes

There are two main types of junction boxes: ordinary and encapsulated.

Ordinary junction boxes are sealed with silicone sealing rings, while filled junction boxes are filled with two component silicone for sealing. Ordinary junction boxes have been used earlier and are easy to operate, but the sealing ring is prone to aging when used for a long time. The operation of sealing the junction box is relatively complex (requiring filling with two component silicone and curing), but the sealing effect is good, aging resistant, and can ensure the long-term effectiveness of the junction box sealing, and the price is slightly cheaper.

Note: Encapsulated junction boxes were generally used for thin film modules before, but now they are also used for crystalline silicon modules, such as Suntech and Canadian Solar.
